About Bo Cipra

The Heart of Our Mission

Bo Cipra’s Story

The Bo Cipra Foundation was formed by his closest friends to honor the life of a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. Bo made an impact on everyone he came across and we would like to share a few things about the person Bo is and who lives on in our hearts forever.

Christopher ‘Bo’ Cipra was born in Houston, TX in January of 1988 to Marchelle and Ted Cipra. He was their first child and eventually the older (protective) brother to his younger sister, Laura.

Bo truly lit up a room with his huge smile and outgoing personality. He had an incredible gift of making everyone feel at ease and in turn making friends of all ages and walks of life. Almost anywhere he went, whether to his favorite restaurants, an Astros game, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, he would find old friends to catch up with. These traits were what helped him excel in his work in the Oil & Gas industry as the Senior Sales Line Pipe Manager at Tenaris.

Bo was the devoted father of two precious daughters who were the most important parts of his life. He loved them with an all-encompassing love and enjoyed sharing everything from his love of sports to baby dolls and all things pink. Bo will forever be the core to our lives and made an impact on many people throughout his 34 years. Our family was beyond blessed to have someone like Bo to rely on and be loved by. He was there for us always and we continue to feel
his love on a daily basis.

Bo grew up in the Spring Branch-Memorial area and always had a deep love for his community. That connection is why we have a desire to utilize a portion of our foundation within the Spring Branch-Memorial area.

Bo was an extremely gifted athlete and sports was always a huge aspect of his life. He started playing sports in the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association from the age of four. He played soccer, football, basketball and baseball during his youth. As he went into high school at Spring Woods, he focused on his first love of baseball and his other passion, football. As a senior quarterback in football, he won the H.M. Landrum Award for offensive back and that same year he won MVP of the Spring Branch Memorial District in baseball.

He was recruited by the West Point Military Academy to play baseball, and after his baseball career ended in his junior year of college, he continued his love for sports through the game of golf. He even got his first hole-in-one on October 30, 2021 at the Moody Gardens Golf Course. He graduated from the University of Houston in 2010.

Along with family, friends, sports, and work, Bo had a passion for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. At the age of 21, he became a member of the Breeders Greeters committee as he followed in his grandmother’s footsteps. He was a team captain for many years and loved working with his team members. One of his favorite parts was meeting the young kids who were there to show their animals.

He was taken from us far too soon due to the misuse of a golf cart. Please take the time to ensure you and those around you never make the same mistakes. We encourage you to live your life to the fullest like Bo and make everyone around you feel at ease.

The Bo Cipra Foundation honors Bo Cipra’s life by providing financial and emotional support to petroleum industry families who have lost their primary provider. It also reflects his passion for golf by promoting safety on the course and supports Texas-based charities close to his heart.

The Bo Cipra Foundation is a 501c3 organization
